Project #3 Environment/Landscape
Material: Corrugated Plastic Sheets Size: L: 8" W: 8" H: 21" D: 8" - I based the geometric structures of my sculpture project on a statue located in front of the Macomb Public Library. The site was a helpful reference for my design to get the shapes correctly. I created a few sketches and made some measurements to make a small replica that I deemed close enough compared to the actual structure. The hardest and most time-consuming part of my assembly was mainly cutting the corrugated plastic sheets while trying to keep the edges as clean as possible. My weakness was properly aligning the top portion, especially the upper footing where the triangular tip is placed. It was also a bit of an issue to connect without openings. I think my biggest strength was keeping the integrity of my design somewhat relative to the actual model, as it came out a lot better than I expected, as it reminds me of a piece of architecture or an eerie lantern, depending on how you look at my piece.
