Project #1 Function/Form/Familiarity

Material: Paper Mache & Cardboard Size: L: 9.5" W: 0.75" H: 0.5" D: 0.5" - My object for this project was based on my actual watch but slightly distorted. I ended up making the watch black with an added white hypnotic swirl in the center of the watch diameter since I like the stark contrast between black and white. I wanted to convey a sense of surrealism by getting lost in the moment and/or time. The shape and exaggerated, bendy form of the watch vaguely reminds me of a bat as well, which is a nocturnal creature and time never pauses even while most of the world is resting at night. The scale of the watch is roughly 1:1 of the real model and I added some tape (painted) to the straps as well.
